Bountiful Babies emerged out of the Sierra Perinatal Project, a grassroots effort which began in 2011 to address gaps in care, lack of awareness, and absence of “a place” to go for expecting families and those with infants and toddlers in Sierra County. We are nurses, midwives, somatic therapists, farmers, artists, parents, grandparents, educators and business people ranging in age from 23-93.
Current programs include “Water Babies”, “Rhythmic Language”, Baby-Wearing/ring-sling sewing workshops, community parenting celebrations and “Week of the Child.”
During summer months we celebrate local farmers, nutrition, and arts with activities at the Farmer’s Market on Second Saturday. New programs and groups will start soon including Mom+Baby Yoga, Mama Zumba, Breast Feeding Support, and Young Women’s Empowerment Circles which will serve teens.
Bountiful Babies opened their center called “Wildflowers – Art from the Start” in July 2015. Focused on the arts, play and imagination, development and healthy relationships for parents, caregivers, children and the community it is temporarily located at 307 N. Date St. in T or C, soon to be at 400 Broadway in downtown T or C.
Bountiful Babies/Wildflowers is grateful to The Bountiful Alliance, Brindle Foundation and McCune Foundation, the Sierra Health Council and the City of T or C for their support.
A community based “place” its foundation is the Sierra Community of volunteers, including the Winter Quilters, and Farmer’s Market artisans who generously donate hundreds of hours, talent and inspiration for ongoing and new programs.
